Community Players

  A bunch of volunteers led by Rose Wigmore plans a shows which would involving young or old;  with or without experience; stage-struck or not – everyone is welcome to join in.   With the emphasis on community the group comes under the umbrella of the Lyme Regis Development Trust.  Their commitment is to raise all their own funds and – after the show – donate any surplus to the Development Trust for its ground-breaking work with young people.  Tel 445072

Lyme Regis Dramatic Society The Society has been staging two plays a year since it was founded over 50 years ago.  It aims to maintain its high standards and is open to all members of the community with an interest of any aspect of drama.  It has made many donations to Charities and contributed towards the cost of new seating, stage curtains and the P.A. Lyme Regis Radio Based around actual audio, similar to radio, with items on local events and people, etc. Whenever possible we include photo's to illustrate and some background info, but our main aim is to 'broadcast' Lyme Regis to the world, yet stay a community voice.

Lyme Regis Town Band has established itself as an integral part of the town's social life.  The impetus for the formation of the current Band was a donation provided by an international film company following the filming, in Lyme Regis, of 'The French Lieutenant's Woman' by John Fowles, a resident of Lyme Regis. From an original ‑14 members, it has grown to a full Concert Entertainment Band of 34 players (plus some young learners).

Large campers, caravans and towing boats, should AVOID the Town Centre when you approach Lyme Regis. This area cannot accommodate large vehicles and you will get STUCK, it is also the wrong end of town for the Cobb!

The Jurassic Coast Bus:  Poole to Exeter X53 service (via Lyme Regis)   The award winning CoastLINXX53 is the perfect way to visit many of the main attractions along the Jurassic Coast.  Why not use the bus to walk a section of the Coast Path, visit the seaside at Weymouth, Seaton, or Lyme Regis, or go shopping at Exeter or Poole. There are also lots of attractions along the route, so why not have a day out at Crealy Adventure Park, Pecorama or Abbotsbury Swannery or go fossiling at Charmouth or Lyme Regis. Rail Travel

National Rail  By train from London Waterloo Station  Take the Exeter St. David's train, operated by South West Trains. Get off at Axminster station (approx. 2 1/2 hours). Take the No. 31 bus from outside the station (hourly service; the bus destination is Weymouth). The journey is 25 minutes to Lyme Regis.

Alternatively, from Waterloo, take the Weymouth train. Get off at Dorchester South station. Take the No. 31 bus (the destination is Axminster) from the station. The journey is about one hour to Lyme Regis, through picturesque countryside.
