Boat Building Academy
01297 445545

'Practical, professional or purely for pleasure - come and learn boatbuilding or woodworking skills at the Boat Building Academy in Lyme Regis.  Whether you want a professionally recognised boatbuilding qualification, a few days by the sea learning practical skills, or to build your own boat, there is a course for you here in Lyme Regis.

Our boat building training courses are hands-on, taught by experts and vary in length from 1 day to 38 weeks. Based on Lyme Regis's famous Monmouth beach in Dorset. The Academy lies at the heart of the UK's most breathtaking scenery, the Jurassic Coast. This stretch of coastline is designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Our students come from every profession and from all over the world. Many will go on to work in the marine industries but our courses also appeal to those taking a sabbatical from their 'real' lives or simply escaping the rat race.'

Under 5s Wednesday 2.15pm - 3.00pm 1st Wednesday of the month (starting 5/10/11) 01297 443151

Bounce and rhyme sessions are fun for babies, toddlers and their parents or carers. Loads of noisy fun and instruments to shake and rattle.  Noisy fun for under twos and you! Rhyme time! Clap, tap, wiggle and jiggle together. We combine stories, songs, rhymes and instruments to rattle and shake to help young children get the most from their library. It's enjoyable, interactive and noisy!  Rhyme time sessions are aimed at babies and toddlers along with their parents and carers.  The events are based on sharing nursery rhymes, action songs and music. It is fun, interactive and noisy! Nursery rhymes are great for language development.  It is also a nice way of introducing babies and toddlers to their local library!

Charles Mercer Green,  Monmouth Beach, Lyme Regis, Dorset DT7 3LG
The Lyme Regis Bowling Club
, founded in 1937, has 7 rinks and currently has around 120 full members. Feedback from visiting clubs suggests that this is one of the best greens in the South West of England. The setting down by the Cobb Harbour is a delight, with the sea and beaches close to the green and with a large outdoor raised viewing area overlooking the green.  We are open from late April to late September. Hours are 10am to 6pm.  There is a fine Clubhouse with a licensed bar that is open to visiting bowlers and limited catering is available with details on request. Unless the Club has a full rinks fixture at least two rinks are available to the general public to hire and a club steward will be on hand to book you in. Woods and shoes are also for hire.
